Diwali : The Festival of Lights

Today is Dhanatrayodashi , the first day of Diwali.
To most , Diwali is a fun time ,a time to eat , to drink , to celebrate.
For a student though , it means studying , as the teachers give extra work , just in case we're bored of bursting crackers. Of course I've never heard of anyone actually completing the work during the holidays , most of my classmates would do it the night before school started. Its no wonder that our work (especially the diagrams) was sloppy , untidy and often illegible. I remember making my parents complete a science project for me , it was the last time they ever asked how my "holiday homework" was going. After that the just took for granted that I would do it in a hurry at the end of the vacation.
Up to last year I enjoyed bursting a whole lot of different types of firecrackers but after watching the movie 'An Inconvenient Truth' and documentaries like 'Planet in Peril' I've stopped buying them altogether. Also , most firecrackers are made by children younger to me , in the most unsafe conditions imaginable.
Hopefully many , many , many children like me become more aware of the environment and help protect it by not bursting crackers!
